PhotoElements 2020 Crashing When Opening HEIC Files

All of a sudden PSE no longer opens HEIC files without crashing.  When contacted support, they said it is a compatibility issue with my Mac operating system 11.6.7.  So, it worked yesterday, and now it doesn't?  This doesn't seem to be the issue.  I have restarted the computer and do not know what else to try.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
