Photomerge in PSE 2018

When I run a photomerge in pse 2018, (via the guided), it simply pops the pics on top of each other so they are aligned correctly, but not blending, and no filling the edges.   I get the question...Do you want to fill the edges, but it doesn't.   The blend photos is checked in the settings.   What can I do to get the photos to blend like the old versions of PSE?
