Photos suddenly loading darker in Elements than original image.

I got on my computer today after not loading Elements for almost a week. I was going to edit the rays in this photo. Once I opened this up in Elements, the photo is significantly darker than the original. I set the same photo on my desktop how it was originally saved, and even opened it up in Windows Photo View to see. It's all viewing how it's suppose to. I tried opening other photos in elements and it is doing the same thing; opening them dark. I do not know what happened but I have no clue how to fix it. Is there a setting somewhere in Photoshop that I am missing or somewhere on my computer itself? I do know that Windows 10 did update the other day. Could this caused a fluke with my Elements? I am suppose to do a photo shoot soon but I can't do it if I cant get my elements working to where I can edit my photos properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated... I am at a loss. The image above is an example of what I am talking about. Same photo as a desktop. Opened in Photoshop it looks like this.

Your issue may require relatively long explanations and questions...

First, the important fact is you are not alone to face this difference in luminosity. It's amazing how many posts about that fact are coming on the forum. And the good news is that most of the time, the reasons of the issue and their cure are known.

The reason is in general that the luminosity setting on your computer are much, much too bright as set from the factory.

The cure is that there is no other way to get a correct color rendition for a given monitor than to use a hardware calibration tool (I do use a Spyder tool).

You have to take into account that Elements, like all photo editors, has color management whereas most browser or simple applications don't. That explains the difference when you are seeing the same image on two monitors or two different applications.

There can be other problems like wrong or corrupted color profiles used by your computer.

Photo Prints are too dark, and colors are not correct.

Thank you for your reply. The photos ( one above for example) look fine on other screens and also after printed. It's only on Elements and Lightroom  it appears it has only done this after my Windows 10 did an update. I've used Photoshop for 10+ years and never had this issue. I've had this computer since March and no issues until now with Photoshop. This all is new and like stated, fine on any other screen and after images are printed as well. So I am still at a loss. I thought about uninstalling PS Elememts and Lightroom to see many after the update something got corrupted .
