My hard drive crashed and I am rebuilding a new one. When I reaload my Elements11 Program, it opens OK but when I open Photo Editor all of the options under "file" etc aer blank so I can not upload my pictures. Problem two is that under  Organizer, a message pops up that says Directx can not be initialized and to download it from microsoft. But, none of the version I have downloaded seem to satisfy elements. Any suggestions??

For DirectX issue in Elements Organizer, perform following steps:

    1. Look for Turn Windows Features On/Off

    2. Click on Legacy Components

    3. Check that DirectPlay is ticked

For menus not visible in Editor, please follow the discussion in thread Photoshop Elements 10 pulldown menus are now blank after Win10 Updates - Microsoft Community for possible solution.

    Thanks,

The Directx problem is fixed but two problems remain for which I have found no solutions. First, Organizer text appears totally distorted to the point everything is unreadable. This seems to be a common problem many other Elements users in several versions of Elements have encountered without any good solutions. Second, the file, edit, etc. captions in Editor have nothing but blank choices available so the program is useless. This again seems to be a common problem for many Elements users in several versions of Elements. The cause of this seems to be some Windows 10 updates for which no one has found a good cure. Adobe blames Microsoft and Microsoft blames Adobe. Not a good situation for us users of Photoshop Elements. I hope one company or the other can help us out sometime in the near future. In the meantime my Photoshop Elements 11 and that of many others like me is unusable. I'll be checking this forum thread to see if anyone has a solution.
