Question

Photoshop 14 Elements with Canoscan 8800F

I have an HP laptop running Windows 10.

Whereas previously I was able to scan slides (at 4500dpi) using earlier versions of Photoshop, since upgrading the maximum resolution I am allowed to use in 600dpi. This is no good for slides.

What is the solution?

Most likely because your using WIA Support instead of Twain that earlier photoshop/photoshop elements versions had.

More often than not WIA offers limited settings as compared with Twain or using the Canon software.

If your windows 10 is 64 bit, then pse 14 is 64 bit and 64 bit programs on windows don't support twain.

Good suggestion above about trying VueScan.

Lyndsay, you may have to update to a newer scanner driver. You may want to pose this question to Canon. If you still cannot get it to work properly, you may want to investigate Vuescan. It is a third party scanning program that supports a wide variety of scanners. You can check it out here - www.hamrick.com.
