Hello, I have Photoshop elements 2018 and Lightroom 6 (both disk version). Is it best to import photos into Lightroom 6's organizer or photoshop's organizer? Thank you, John H.

The real question is which software do you prefer to manage and edit your media files.

It's really a hassle to try to keep two catalogs in sync.

You may prefer the power of Lightroom or the ease of use of the organizer.

    - Lightroom must absolutely import (index) your files before being able to edit them. You can't manage your pictures in the organizer and send them for editing in LR. You can manage your catalog in LR and send the files for further edits in the PSE editor, that's the most frequent situation. If you like the LR parametric editing, remember that the ACR module offers most of those tools; then if you prefer to manage with the organizer, you don't really need Lightroom at all.

    - you can convert organizer catalogs to Lightroom catalogs, not the contrary.

That explains why in practice it makes little sense to use the organizer for management if you are the only user with both softwares. It may be a good idea to continue to manage your catalog in the organizer until you are well acquainted with LR (you can convert the catalog anytime). Another case would be to keep the organizer catalog up to date to enable sharing with another computer with only Elements.

I think I'll use Photoshop element 2018's editor and use Lightroom 6's editor and organization feature. Photoshop element 2018 editor would be  good because of layers and other creative feature.  Lightroom 6 because of its editor and more powerful organizatIon features. Thank you very muc, John H.
