Photoshop 2025 organizer keeps coming up with a red circle and slash when I try to move a picture from one place to another in organizer.

I suppose that if you are viewing in chronological order, you could adjust the date/time of the image to place it where you want.

You can only move the order of a photo in the grid if you are viewing an Album.  You can only sort the images in the grid using the Sort by: dropdown, and if you are not viewing an Album, the choices are only Newest, Oldest, Name and Import Batch.  (There are some other chronological choices available in Preferences.)

This has always been the way the Organizer operates.

Where are you moving the photos to and from?

What happens if you use the File>Move dialog?

I imported thousands of pictures into Photoshop Elements. In organizer I want to move one picture from one row to another two rows down. When I click on the picture, a red circle , with a red slash in it appears next to my curser. I then cannot move the picture. This happens when I click on any picture. It happens in Photoshop 2012, 2017, 2020, 2025. Never had this happen before. What is going on? Tried file/move/dialogue, square came up with the picture in it. Dialogue never came up in the square. Been using Photoshop for 13 years or so. Thank you for any HELP!

@nickelman

Photoshop has never had an organizer. Are you using Photoshop Elements? If so, we can move your post to that forum for you.
