Photoshop Album 2.0 stop working after Windows 11 Upgrade

I've been using Photoshop Album 2.0 for over 20 years with about 20,000 pictures.  I've been using it on Windows 10 with no problems for more than 5 years.  After I did the Windows 11 upgrade after I open up the program it freezes and there no slider on the right side of the screen.  The vertical slider area is there but no slider.  The program freezes and I have to go to Task Manager to close it out.  I've tried running as an Administrator and in different compatability OS but nothing helps.  I'm looking for a way to get this running, or the simplest way to convert to another program that will retain my tags and improvements.

@duhmel Photoshop Album 2.0 for over 20 years is the key thing here.... that was over 20 years ago. Photoshop Album 2.0 was released in 2004.

I am surprised that you were able to keep using that app for over 20 years! If you were using Windows 10, then roll back to that then. Adobe has since replaced Photoshop Album 2.0 with Photoshop Elements. It's standard, likely due to the program's age and its incompatibility with the newer operating system. It's like my GPS in my Honda 2012, it doesn't even show the new complexes in my neighbourhood, and if I want to upgrade th GPS, I need to pay for a new updates. Nothing is free.

The good thing is that Photoshop Elements,  should recognize and import catalogs from older versions like Photoshop Album 2.0. The new program should prompt you to convert the old catalog upon the first launch. If it doesn't, you can typically find a "Convert Catalog" or "Import Catalog" option within the software's menu. This process will read the data from your Photoshop Album catalog and create a new one in a format the modern software can use, preserving your tags and organizational structure. https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html?msockid=3777501ed2176836131a467cd3ea699d

I downloaded Elements 2025 and that only converts catalogs from after Elements 13  or slightly thereafter.  It doesn't recognize a catalog file ".PSA".  I downloaded Adobe's Catalog Converter program which supposedly upgrades ".psa" catalogs to one that can be used for Elements 13.  Unfortunately upon running that program crashed and couldn't complete.  I was able to get my laptop to run  Photoshop Album 2.0 after the Windows 11 upgrade so ther's nothing fundamentially inconsistent with the program and windows 11.  On my PC I can get it to run now but it freezes and crashes when I try and use the vertical slider that controls moving pictures up and down.  I'm trying to figure out the differences in setting between the two machines.  I can't see a path forward towards transitioning to Elements unless I can figure out how to convert the catalog file.

Hi duhmel,

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but have you tried running your Photoshop Album 2.0 in Windows 11 Compatibility mode? You have to navigate to the folder where the Photoshop Album 2.0 files are located and right-click on the EXE, then click on Properties and select the Compatibility tab. The attached screenshot shows the Properties/Compatibility window. There is also a Compatibility Troubleshooter you could try.
