photoshop element 6

I am a 59-year-old business owner and I had a Photoshop subscription for over 3 years, I tried to learn how to do image retouching and so on without success. I could only resize my pictures. In the end, I decided to cancel my prescription because I wasn't using the full benefit.

I came across an Adobe Element 6 software with the serial number I had for 22.  I wanted to use the resizing option only, nothing else. I have tried to upload it and running but I have a warning message that I need to contact ADOBE. I did so but no one from the technical department wanted to help., or advise me on how to successfully install the software which was provided by ADOBE  and legally bought 22 years ago. 

This product does not have an expiring date on it, so I do not understand why I can't use it again.

 

I just need your opinon or help if this is okay with this community as ADOBE technical department has a lack of emphaphy

    What operating system are trying to install pse 6 on?

    @sylviem70548054 there are plenty of free alternatives to Photoshop that might suit your needs, try a Google search, Photopea comes to mind, as for Photoshop Elements 6, support for that product has ended a long time ago so you may be out of luck getting it installed, it will certainly not run on modern macOS

      Do you recall where you purchased the software? Adobe has revoked many old serial numbers as unlicensed providers were illegally selling software to end users. If you are getting a message to contact Adobe, without knowing the full message, this is what I am suspecting.

       

      Unfortunately 22 year old software will likely not run on your current computer. While the software itself is executable code, it was designed to run on much older systems and is not supported to run on modern computer hardware and operating systems. Think of it in terms of a car as they don't have expiration dates either. Would you put a 22 year old engine in a brand new car your bought today and expect it to work with the transmission and other more technologically advanced parts?

       

      If you are not looking for a subscription to Photoshop, your best bet is to buy a new one-time license to Elements that would work on a modern computer: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html . But if all you need to do is resize photos you could probably use a free tool like GIMP, or your photo editing software like Windows Photos or Photos on Mac will do this for you from your photos library.
