Photoshop Elements 10 crashing at startup

As with all problems...it was working fine then all of a sudden yesterday when I tried to open PE 10 it "unexpectedly quit".  It won't open at all.  I tried deleting the preferences but no dice.

Any thoughts?

I am using a Mac.  OS 10.12.5 Sierra.
