Photoshop Elements 10 just stopped working properly in Windows 10

After returning from holiday, I tried to load my digital pics into Elements 10. However, the "organise" opening screen was distorted near the top, rendering the "File, Edit" options unreadable. Some of the fonts had also changed. There had been a major Windows update recently, so I used System Restore to get back to the older pre-update situation. Elements then worked normally. I reasoned that a driver had been automatically updated so I ticked the "do not update drivers box" in Windows 10. Next day, when I restarted the PC, the problem was back. Is there a solution?

    The forced Win10 updates are the culprit.
