Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere 11 Problems with Importing

I have just purchased Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11. I have installed them but the Organiser will not import my photos from iPhoto or my camera. It will import from Files. For iPhoto it says I should update my version of iPhoto but I have the latest version . It cannot detect the camera. I have using Sierra .Could anyone help please.
