Hello

Since 2014, i've been using PSE 12 on my macbook and it's been working well until I've updated my macbook to HighSierra 10.13.

I can't open my PSE 12 at all. After reinstalling the program from the App Store - i still can't open the program and i also don't get any further informations.

No error code or any else. So I can't give you more informations, than it's been working before and doesn't work anymore.

Does anybody have an idea what I can do now?

Best regards

Marcel

Hi Marcel, unfortunately PS Elements 12 is incompatible with any OS higher than 10.9 (Mavericks).  I ran into the same situation as you did, and after some research from Adobe's link below where they post the PS Elements systems requirement page and talking to a rep, i have concluded that we are screwed!

    Hi David,

I've been using PS Elements 12 on every OS up to 10.12 Sierra with no issue other than having to re-download it from time to time. It works perfectly well on Sierra. It seems that many people have problems on High Sierra.

I had the issue with Sierra 10.12.6, and found this video that cleared the issue up for me: How to Reset Photoshop Preferences File - YouTube

The explanation begins at the 2:00 mark, when she uses the Go menu in the Finder, pressing down the option key to reveal the library in the drop-down menu. From there, you navigate to your Photoshop Elements Preferences folders, which aren't touched by the uninstall process, and move them and/or delete them outright. For whatever reason, a new install takes after this move. I suspect the system gets confused by the original preferences folder during the download, thinks it's already there, then the application can't use the old file. After deleting the old preferences, the installer goes about its business unimpeded.

    Hopefully, this helps you guys.

    Hi Marcel

Try trashing the saved prefs while launching the editor app. Hold down the three keys Cmd+Optn(Alt)+Shift and start the Editor. Keep the three keys depressed for a couple of seconds and release. You should see a settings dialog. Click yes to delete the settings.

    Thank you 99jon

Unfortunately nothing really happened when I hold down those three keys. Neither a window opened nor anything else happened.

Do you probably have another trick?

It's all about timing. Try holding the three keys for one or two seconds.
