Question

Photoshop Elements 15 Installation Location

Hello, I'm running a 64 bit version of Windows 7 which has the operating system installed on a small capacity SSD (60GB) nominated as the C: drive, so when I install PSE15 I point it to the J: drive which is a conventional 1TB HDD.

However, when I do this I am still losing 3 GB of capacity on the SSD C: drive and I see Adobe folders appearing on it in a number of  locations on it.

Is it possible to stop this happening and get everything PSE15 needs installed on the J: drive?

I would just get a larger SSD.

Thanks for the quick reply, you're right a larger SSD would be the answer but I'm not sure I'm up to the task of migrating the operating system to a new drive at the moment.

No it's not possible to stop the install of some pse 15 related files on your ssd boot drive even though you specified a different drive for install.

My feeling is your doing yourself a disservice by not installing pse 15 on your ssd.

The program will start and run much faster from an ssd than a "regular slow sata Hd"

Ideally when using an ssd, the operating system and programs should be installed on the ssd and stuff like pictures, the pse 15 elements organizer catalog, videos, documents, etc. can be kept on the regular non ssd hard drive.

Thanks for the quick reply, I understand it would be better if I could install the whole of PSE15 on the SSD but it just isn't big enough and, as I replied to Peru Bob, I'm not sure I'm up to the task of migrating the whole operating system to a new drive at the moment.

I've seen mentioned elsewhere in these forums the use of a "symbolic link" in order to move the folders installed on the C: drive elsewhere so that PSE gets redirected when it tries to find the files contained in these folders. Do you think that's a workable solution and worthy of further investigation?

Sounds like symbolic links are worth a try.
