Photoshop Elements 2018 - how do I change performance preferences

To change the performance setting: in Element Editor (not Organizer), click Edit > Preferences > Performance... from there you can change the percentage of memory usage.

My PC is a core i7 3.6GHz with 16 GB of memory and NVIDIA display card with 2GB of RAM, Windows 10 x64.  I've been using PSE since version 2... I just had PSE 2018 installed hoping for a smoother experience... but what a disappointment!  PSE 2018 became so sluggish after a couple hours of use, especially when doing the face recognition.  It gobbled up over 12 GB of memory (memory usage is set at 70% which should be less than 10 GB), every click took a few minutes to response, and then the whole computer slowed down to a crawl.

My work around is to quit PSE, wait for about 5 minutes (even after quitting PSE took about 2-5 minutes to completely close the application), then start it again.

I've seen and heard a lot of complaints about this memory issue...

Me too. I've imported my 50K photo library in PSE2018 64-bits. I'm trying to deal with all the faces PSE identified, but after a while, PSE just makes my graphics drivers crash, and my screen goes black.

I'm on a Microsoft Surface Pro3, Core i5, 6GB RAM. If that's not enough for what's supposed to be a light version of Photoshop, I don't know what is.

I am looking for this also. I just updated my older PSE12 to 2018 since i hoped that the 64bit version would run smoother than the 32bit version (since it can use more memory).

Still it is sluggish. So what can one do to get is smoother? i have got 16GB memory. If PSE runs smooth using it all (or most of it, no problem.
