Photoshop Elements 2020 to make changes to "OneDrive/Pictures" rather than "ThisPC/Pictures"

Is there any way to direct Photoshop Elements 2020 to make changes to "OneDrive/Pictures" rather than "This PC/Pictures"? They both have the same path on my computer. Today metadata changes I make in PSE 2020 are changed back by OneDrive.

Can you please explain your problem in more detail.  Where and how are you making your metadata changes?  The Editor or the Organizer? Via Ctrl+W in the Organizer or via a Save or Save As in the Editor?  Where are your Organizer photos actually stored on your computer?  (Select a photo and click on the Information panel Location link - what is the full path?)

All my Pictures are in my "This PC/Pictures" folder on my computer. When I installed OneDrive it created another folder "OneDrive/Pictures". I use Photoshop Elements 2020 and it is directed at the "This PC/Pictures" folder. The path is the same for each "C:\Users\dhdal\OneDrive\Pictures".

When I do an Elements File>Copy Metadata to Files (or a Ctl-W) it copies the Metadata to "This PC/Pictures" folder. Then as "Sync" happens and most of the corrected metadata is replaced by the older data from the "OneDrive/Pictures" file. Microsoft says that I must direct changes to the OneDrive/Pictures folder. How to do that in Elements is the question.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Windows provides and suggest a default folder tree structure to organize and save 'Pictures'.

Those default subfolder can be reached by the full path via your user name or directly from the shortcut 'This PC/Pictures'. No duplication but two different ways to access the files.

If you create a OneDrive location, that means you want to 'sync' that folder, which is now a 'system' folder with special properties to sync your files to the Cloud. The full path in your User section in NOT the same as the normal Pictures folder or its shortcut.

So, when you specify a location for saving, depending on your purpose, you must select the correct path, normal or synced in OneDrive.

Keep an eye on your Organizer preferences about 'saving files'. After 'General', specify your preference in Files, editing, camera or card reaser and scanner.

When you save files, have a look at the default suggested path and correct it if needed.

By the way, I never use the default Windows Pictures paths, I create my own preferred master folder just under the letter of the drive, and if I want to store some of my photos in OneDrive, I create my own subfolder under the OneDrive master file, something like 'My photos'. You can move such a subfolder from the normal location to OneDrive or vice versa.

Hi @Auburn_Don

Since your question is about Photoshop Elements, I have moved this from the Photoshop forum where you posted.
