Photoshop Elements 2021 editor won't load on macbook pro 2015 retina mid 2015, catalina 10.15.7

hi there,

photoshop elements is behaving weirdly on my macbook pro. I had installed the program previously, but exactly the same problem is occurring now. Once i hit the 'photo editor' icon, the program seems to start loading the program, but actually, nothing happens. the only thing is that the 'load icon' (the star before 'lading adobe photoshop elements editor workspace', just keeps spinning and then disappears....

since this problem ocurred before, i uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but it seems the problem returns once again...

any advice or help would be very welcome,
