Let's just walk through all the steps to set up a watch folder and test whether it's working:
- Start Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021
- Choose the Organizer from the Photoshop Elements Home screen
- File > Watch Folders
- In the Watch Folders dialog window make sure the checkbox is selected next to Watch Folders and their Sub-Folders for New Files
- In the Folders to Watch section, click the Add button
- Navigate to your Documents folder and create a new folder called PSE Watch and click OK
- Check the new PSE Watch folder is now listed under the Folders to Watch
- Choose the Notify Me option under When New Files are Found in Watched Folders
- Click OK and exit the Organizer
- Using the File Explorer, navigate to your new PSE Watch folder
- Copy any image you like to the PSE Watch folder
- From the Photoshop Elements Home screen, start the Organizer again
- You should receive a notification on the screen that New files have been found in your Watched Folders
- Click Cancel
- File > Watched Folders
- This time change the When New Files are Found in Watched Folders option to Automatically Add Files to Elements Organizer
- Click OK and exit the Organizer
- Go back to your PSE Watch folder and copy a different image to that folder
- From the Photoshop Elements Home screen, start the Organizer again
- This time the image should be automatically imported into the Organizer
