Photoshop Elements 2022 Editor not opening

I have Photoshop Elements 2022. A few months ago the Editor stopped working. It brings up the message "Loading Photoshop Elements Editor Workspace..." with the rotting circle but eventually this goes away without anything happening so I can't edit any photos.  How do I fix this?

You are showing the Preferences dialog for the Organizer.  Bob is suggesting that you reset the Preferences in the Editor.

But I can't open the editor.  That is the problem.

Try this:

Restore default preferences
Preference settings control how Photoshop Elements Editor displays images, cursors, and transparencies, saves files, uses plug‑ins and scratch disks, and so on. If the application exhibits unexpected behavior, the preferences file could be damaged. You can restore all preferences to their defaults.

Note: Deleting the preferences file is an action that cannot be undone.

Do one of the following:

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Mac: Option+Command+Shift) immediately after Photoshop Elements begins launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.
Go to Edit > Preferences (Mac: Photoshop Elements > Preferences > General), click the Reset Preferences on next launch button, and then click OK. When you restart Adobe Photoshop Elements, all preferences are reset to default settings.
A new preferences file is created the next time you start Photoshop Elements Editor. For information on a specific preference option, search for the preference name in Help.

Thanks Bob.  Pressing Alt+Control+Shift while opning Photoshop Elements (or while opening the Organiser) doesn't do anything.  If I open the Organiser and select Edit/Preferences I don't see the Reset Preferences on Next Launch button.  However there is a Restore Default Settings button (see screenshot below).  Is that the same thing?

I understand that you are not trying to print anything.   Neither were the dozens of other Elements 2022 users who were able to solve this problem by following my advice.  If you don't want to answer a simple yes/no question, that's fine.

Thanks Greg.  I still don't understand how the Windows printer settings can affect whether the Photoshop Elements editor opens or not but to answer your question, I do have a printer that is capable of WiFi but I have never used that feature, just the Ethernet and networking features.  Note that the editor has been working fine for three years with this printer set as default.  I have now tried setting Microsoft Print to PDF as the default printer and this didn't make any difference.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Because this is a problem that many users have had with Elements 2022 and I have given you a solution that works for those with wifi printers.

Do you have a wifi printer?  If so, change the default printer to something else in Windows Settings.  You can change to any other printer, including the Microsoft PDF printer.
