PhotoShop Elements 2024 Importation from MS OneDrive photo creation date orgaanization problem

Question

I just put Elements 2024 on a new Macbook Pro.

I tried to import a large number of files from Microsoft One Drive. I had photos from many different sources on One Drive. One Drive was pretty good about collecting all the photo files, from different sources (phones, scans, cameras) and different computers and putting them all under the photos virtual folder. I was able to import all the photo files on onto MacBook and into the Elements organizer (about 100,000 files).

Elements is not using the photo creation take for date organization puproses, the file creation date is used instead. The photo creation date is clearly still in the metadata.

How to I organize these photos by the photo creation date?
