Question

Photoshop Elements 2024 on Windows 11 is a disaster

Bought Elements 2024 as an upgrade to 2021 and replaced a stand-alone Photoshop 2020. The Windows version is a disaster. Basic things do not work - for example, Organizer windows are maximized and cannot be resized. Very slow to respond and half the time the menus do not respond at all. Seems like something that was not finished and tested on Windows.

I bypassed the organizer and loaded an image directly to the editor in order to try the Colorizing filter. In Photoshop, the neural version creates very nice color images with colors assigned intelligently (for example, lips are red). The Elements 2024 version does not get even close.
And, as typical for Adobe, there is no technical support whatsoever. You are on your own. No way to cancel the purchase and get the money back.
My computer is a high-end machine that handles the full Photoshop beautifully.

@Joe36839374hbiw, one of the reasons that the program is slow to respond when first installed is that a lot of  the Organizer's media analysis (face recognition and smart tags) is taking place in the background.  This can affect the Editor.

To determine whether this is the cause of the problem for you, you can turn off all media analysis by going to the Organizer's Edit>Preferences>Media Analysis dialog and uncheck all the boxes.  If that solves the problem, you can replace the checks in the boxes and leave your computer running overnight to allow the analysis to complete.  Depending on the size of your catalog and the specs of your computer, this may take several days.

agreed

bought this because its supposed to be the best of the best for photo related stuff but this so called "best of the best" cant even handle me making a slideshow with 125 pictures without freezing for long periods of time and crashing. so disappointed by this purchase.

Screenshots always help.   There is a reason that photoshop collerization works so well:  it costs more- plus, the neural filters have abilities that PSE does not.

ABOUT ORGANIZER:    Read this- it can be resized, it's a little clunky but it works.   Key to resizing is to drag from one of the corners once you get the double sided arrow icon.

This is a quick n dirty screenshot of the organizer from pse 2024.

Thanks Glen. As you said, it is clunky but works. Disappointing to see that they did not fix it from earlier versions. Today, after reboot, things seem to work smoother and I have not encountered the same freezes and unresponsive behavior.  I hope my first impression was wrong.
