Photoshop elements 2025 crashes on print command

Need help. Photoshop Elements 2025 crashes when I click the print command to print a photo. Doesn't show a print screen at all, just thinks a bit and crashes. It worked fine  the day I installed it on my new Windows 11 computer until about a week ago. I was able to print photos with no problem. Need to know what happened and what to do. From what I read online I'm not the only person having this problem. I've used Photoshop and Photoshop Elements for many years and have never had a problem like this before.

I have been using versions of Adobe since the 2003 package. This issue is Not the drivers or the printers. It is the application. Only warning is a connection prompt. Now it just crashes every time on print, with even new blank files with just a smiley face on them. I have a Windows 11 HP Pavilion, i7, plenty of memory, new since June 2025, and an older but still working and fully updated Epson printer. Just days ago, my Photoshop Elements 2025 program started up with dialogs trying to find the printer connection, and it still does. Now upon the command to print, even with space bar, it crashes immediately withou a crash report. Every time. Drivers are up to date. It is a CPU hog taking up more memory than 2015 did on the old PC, and that worked until this year, as it is no longer Windows compatable. The crashing is not a driver issue, not if everything else works fine. It's not a graphics card issue. I can still run vidoes and open the program at the same time. The only thing new is ads for buy the 2026 bundle. If 2025 is that buggy they're forcing you to buy the new one, they should give it away for free. I've been unknowingly beta testing this thing for months. Ha. I have no solution and it is frustrating. You should not have to use MS paint to print your files. It is definitely an app glitch. Restarting, reinstalling and all that other reset does nothing. It has been tried. The program just stops.

I have the same issue with a clean install of Windows 11 Pro and a Brother MFC-J995DW printer.  Whenever, this printer is selected and select print, the program seems to pause and then crashes.  This never happened with Windows 10 Pro on the same Intel desktop.  The printer driver is dated Sept 2025.

However, if you setup a virtual Windows 11 machine using Vmware Desktop, this app crash does not happen.  As everyone else has indicated, I have no issues with using this color printer to print from MS Office Word and Excel and Adobe Acrobat.  Since many others have reported the same issue with different printers and desktop and laptop computers, this really is an issue that Adobe has to resolve.

I have been using Photoshop Elements since around 2014 and have owned at least 3 different versions.

I just installed the trial version of Photoshop Elements 2026.

This version does not crash when I try to print a photo using my Brother MFC-J995DW printer

I'm using Window 11 on my 2 month-old laptop. I downoaded PS 2025 when I got my laptop and PS printed photos fine, up until today. I just printed photos on Saturday (2 days ago). Now, it closes out PS when I click on print.
I've restarted my laptop 3 times, uninstalled & reinstalled my Epson PM 400 printer 5 times, I've looked to make sure PS was up to date, I have the PS BETA on my laptop, I've used the cable to firectly connect my printer to my laptop, I've resest Elements preferences, checked the printer for issues, and I've searched the internet for answers. NOTHING HELPS. I need photos printed by 09-30 @ 11:59pm.

Hi @lori_9152, thank you for posting your issue. I'm paging Adobe engineer @Mohit Goyal to take a look at and this issue, as several users have now reported they can no longer print without crashing using Photoshop Elements.

Windows 11 & Elements 2025 have printed with no problem & worked fine yesterday. Today the print command shuts down the Elements program. Tried everything suggested & the problem still exists. Troubleshooting found no issues.

Hi @gifted_ease7383

I'm not sure what you've tried so far, but let us know.

  • Restart everything. Close Elements, restart your computer, and reconnect your printer to clear any temporary glitches.
  • Run the printer troubleshooter under Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Find Printer and run to see if there are any outdated drivers or other issues.
  • Reset Elements Preferences under Edit > Preferences > General and then click the “Reset Preferences on next launch” button and confirm by clicking OK.

Resetting preferences did not work. Just made it think a little longer before it crashed. Computer and printer were new in early August so I doubt outdated drivers are an issue. Had no problem printing photos until about a week ago. I can print documents and PDF files and PDF files with photos in them with no problem. I can print photos in a Power Point layout with no problem. Just can't print from Photoshop Elements. All other tools in Elements work fine. Just can't print.
