Photoshop Elements 21 - Adjustment window for Quick edits not showing up in Panel

Hi:
 I am new to Photoshop elements. I want to use Quick or Guided edits but the Adjust panels are not showing up (Only shows up for Expert). WHen I click on QUick or Guided, it comes up in the Title bar and it's very hard to use.  When I click on the Adjustment buttonm a Panel comes up but it's black.  Any ideas or suggestions?
