Photoshop Elements 7 software serial number is not accepted from my cd to my pc

Hi, years ago I purchased this software and was able to use it fine from my expired Windows pc, but somehow the cd software serial number carefully typed to my present Windows 10 pc keeps showing as invalid. I read some community discussions about this and was told to download this program, which I did, so it has been installed no problem to my computer, but still, the serial number doesn't allow me to play it unless I opt for the 30 day trial. I've opted for the trail, and now have access, but will be in same predicament when 30 days runs out. Please help, thanks, RC

This is a user to user forum, so there's not much we can do to help you other than to refer you to Adobe Support to resolve your situation.  You haven't told us exactly what the error message is, so it is even more difficult for us to give you advice.  It is possible that with an old computer and multiple installations, the two activations limit has been reached.  In this case, you need to tell Adobe Support that you need them to reset your activations.  Or, given the number of users having similar problems recently, it may just be an Adobe server issue.  In any event, you can start a chat session with Adobe Support by clicking on the blue Contact Us button under the Help & Support menu at Adobe.com.   And don't be put off by any suggestion that you are not entitled to support for such an old version.  They are required to help you resolve licensing issues.
