Photoshop elements 9

I have a serious problem with photoshop elements that I can not fix. Every time I try to use the program, I get this error. "The program has caused an error closing the program". I have tried to download several different trial versions, but the result is the same. I have an elements 7 with serial number, but it can not run on a newer machine. Is there a chance that you can help.
