Photoshop [Elements] 9 and Windows 11 on Lenovo Yoga 7i

Recently downloaded and installed PSE 9 on my new computer. Installed fine but when I tried to restart my computer it wouldn't go past the LENOVO boot screen.

Is there a known issue with PSE 9 and Windows 11 or the Lenovo Yoga PCs?

[Correction by moderator: was Windows 10]

The download that you received from your Adobe.com account should have a setup file.  It may either be setup.exe or setup.msi (or something similar).  You can try running this file in compatibility mode too.

Hi Michelle.  You said: when I tried to restart my computer it wouldn't go past the LENOVO boot screen.

Does this mean that you cannot boot your computer?  What have you done to resolve that issue?  Have you reinstalled the OS to factory default?  You are not giving us much to go by.  Have you contacted Lenovo support?

How did you install Elements 9? (From download, copy of DVD files or using an external DVD player?)

Did you try using the installer file in Windows compatibility mode?  If you were able to launch your computer, to the Elements 9 PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe file.  It should be found in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9 folder.  Right-click on the file and choose Properties.  In the Compatibility tab, check the box shown in the below screenshot and choose Windows 7 for compatibility mode.

Please let us know if this helps.

Hi Greg!

Does this mean that you cannot boot your computer?

*** Yes. I could not boot up my computer.

What have you done to resolve that issue? Have you reinstalled the OS to factory default?

*** I was able to do a system restore to the point right before I installed PSE9. That got my computer booting up and working again.

Have you contacted Lenovo support?

*** Yes, but haven't received a response yet.

How did you install Elements 9?

*** On my Adobe account, I believe under products, there was a link and I downloaded it from there.

Did you try using the installer file in Windows compatibility mode? If you were able to launch your computer, to the Elements 9 PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe file. *** Someone else just suggested this also. I appreciate your screenshot! I'm going to give this a shot the next time I am at my PC!

Thank you.

Also, upon rechecking my system, I have Windows 11 ... is there a way to edit my original post to reflect the proper OS?

Moderators can make edits, Michelle. It's fixed now!
