Photoshop Elements and importing - memory question

I just bought Photoshop Elements for my MacBook Pro with 1TB of memory. I already have over 500 GB of pictures in Photos. If I import to Elements, will the photos be duplicated and will I use up all my memory?

You should consider using an external drive for the Photos Library.
