Question

Photoshop Elements crashes when adjusting tool size (macOS 12.4)

Hi there,

No, this isn't a crash on opening problem, but I am having all sorts of issues with it crashing when I try to adjust the clone or brush tool size. I am in the middle of a large project and doing alot of cloning, but for any intricate work or adjusting of the tool size, I am having to save just prior to adjusting the size becasue I am sure it will crash.

I have noticed at times that upon opening the tool stamp page, the sliders for Size and Transparency aren't there. They disappear. I might open another tool come back to them and then they settle but it seems there are gremlins that are not helping.

I have tried a complete re-intall. No help.

I am running OS 12.4 Monterey on a Mac Studio 2022 with an M1 Max chip.

Any help appreciated.

Mark

There is definately something amiss Adobe!

I'm sure it has something to do with the app window not fully loading up when I open my document. As the screen shot shows.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I have a Dell 4K monitor.

I opened up my project and saw that the slider pane was missing again, so I immediately chose the scratch option, went to move the slider and it crashed again.

Hi Mark,

Sorry about the trouble with the Photoshop Elements crash issue. We're here to help.

Which version of Photoshop Elements are you using? Since when are you seeing this crash issue? Do you see any error messages? What is the approx size of the file?

Is there any background application that runs with Adobe Photoshop Elements?

Please check this article for a few troubleshooting steps: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-photoshop.html.

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I am using Elements 20.0

I have been experiencing this problem, since I switched to the Monterey OS and Mac Studio.

None of the troubleshooting tips helped.

The problem happens when using the re size tool slider. Photoshope Elements sometimes loads with the opacity and size sliders missing (see attached photo). I need to click on another tool and back again, for the sliders to be seen.

However, when I go to re size a tool, the application crashes.

I have deleted and reinstalled the application, with no luck.

I have copied the project to a new project window, still no luck.

My file size is around 291mb, but the application can load a new empty project with the same problems (as in the photograph).

There are no error messages shown. It just says "an error occured" with no details besides the reports, which I send to both Apple and Adobe.

I hope I have been clear in my description.

Thankyou.

Mark
