Photoshop Elements Editor 2020 suddenly refuses to open on iMac

I installed Photoshop Elements - Nov 2019. My iMac is running catalina 10.15.6. The software has been used virtually everyday since installation without issue. All of a sudden it refuses to open! ( i can open organiser only!).
