Photoshop Elements Exporting as .JPG Instead of .JPEG — iPhoto Not Accepting Files

I have Adobe Photoshop 2024 Elements Organizer 24.0.0.0.  When I use File>Export as New File(s) to export a JPG file and select JPEG as the File Type, a jJPG file is created instead of a JPEG file.  This happens with both with the Original Name and Common Base File Name selected.

I am trying to copy my photos from Elements to Apple iPhoto.  iPhoto will not accept JPG files.  The work around I have to use is use Microsoft to load the jpg file created by Elements and save it as a JPEG file and then download it into iPhoto.

If the files are already .jpeg files, is there any reason you just can't go to the folder on computer where the jpeg files are located and upload them to iCloud?

The files have the JPG extension after "Export As New Files(s)" even though the JPEG option was used to export the files from Elements. In the iCloud program, there is a upload symbol (a cloud with an arrow pointing upward in the cloud icon) which is used to add the files into Apple iCloud Photos. When this is used, iCloud gives the error message that it cannot add the file because it is not compatible. HOWEVER, if I simply drag the JPG file into the iCloud screen, it is uploaded and added to the list of photos. So you have solved my problem and I thank you.

What Apple device do you have iPhoto on?

How are you transferring the .jpg files over to iPhoto?

I am using my hp laptop with windows 11 and bring up my iPhotos with "www.icloud.com/photos.
Interesting also is when I bring up "Help>System" in Elements, it says that my operating system name is Windows 10. I am using Windows 11!

I have adobe photoshop elements organizer on the screen. I select photos in elements that I want to transfer to iCloud and select files>export as new file(s) that that, in turn, brings up a screen that gives me the option to select "File Type". I select the button for "JPEG" and the files are transferred to a directory on my laptop. I go to that directory and all the files are "JPG" files. If I try to import these files into the iPhotos, I get an error message that the program cannot accept this format. I therefore bring up Microsoft Photos and, one by one, bring up the JPG files produced by Elements and then do "Edit" and then "Save AS". This then brings up a window with the computer directory. I select the directory to save the file. There also is a choice as to the format to use. I select JPEG and then do a save. The file is saved as a JPEG file in that directory which can be downloaded into the iPhoto program and iCloud.

Try just changing the file extension from jpg to jpeg.

This works. However it is very cumbersome. Have to go into "Properties" for the file and change it there. Can't just right click on the file and use 'rename" to change the extension. I have around 300 files I need to transfer from elements to icloud. Why doesn't the "Export As New File(s)" with the JPEG option work?
