Photoshop Elements - license apparently no longer recognized

I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 in January 2014 and have been using it since then.  Yesterday, it stopped working.  It looks like my license is no longer recognized.  When I start Photoshop, it looks like it is trying to launch a 30-day free trial.

    Mac or Windows, and EXACTLY which version of the operating system?

    Recent Mac AND Windows operating systems have been known to cause "odd" problems

    Are you using a computer Administrator account with full read/write permission?
