Looks like I haven't given you support information previously (because you indicated that you had already been in touch).

You can start a chat session by clicking on the blue Contact Us button under the Help & Support menu at Adobe.com. Or you can contact Support by telephone using the numbers listed here: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/phone.html. Hours of operation outside of the United States are limited. See the phone link for details.

@Carole27304698hqbw:  Carole - THIS IS A FAKE.  Do not respond to them.  Were you contacted via a Private Message on this forum?  If so, please let us know the name of the user who sent you the PM so we can get them banned.

You need to contact Adobe support with the information I have given you previously.  They will not give you support for Elements 2020 (too old) but, hopefully, they will get the trial of 2023 working for you.

How are you trying to contact Adobe?  They will only respond via Chat or telephone.  If you are contacting someone via email, it is probably a scammer.  An Adobe employee will only have an @17309390 address.

What are the specifications of your computer?

Are you able to launch the Organizer?

Can you launch the program by double-clicking on the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe file found in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2023 folder?

Have you installed any third-party plug-in files?

OK.  So I assume you do not have the upgrade kit that allows for wi-fi printing.   I'm not trying to discourage you from upgrading to Elements 2023.   There are several worthwhile new and improved features over the last 3 versions.  But, I have one last trouble-shooting suggestion for your existing version.

When you uninstalled and reinstalled the program, did you delete the preferences file when prompted during the uninstall process?  If not, try resetting the preferences file. Immediately after launching the Editor, press Alt+Shift+Ctrl. A message should pop up asking if you want to delete the Settings file. Answer OK.

Hello

I thought I would just go for the PE 2023 upgrade on trial .
Unfortunately, exactly the same situation. It launches but doesn't open photo editor.
I've contacted Adobe again praying they can help.

Laser jet printers can also have Wi-Fi capabilities. What model do you have?

I have a very old P1005. Does the job perfectly for long reports!

You can download a free trial of Elements 2023 to see if this problem still exists.

But, I'm guessing that you have a wi-fi printer.  If you do, change your default printer in Windows Settings to any other available printer, even a virtual PDF printer.  The Editor should then open immediately.

Hello Greg

I have a normal laser jet printer . Would that make a difference?

I will download the trial 2023 tomorrow and hope for the best!

Thank you!

First, with respect to Elements 2020, have you tried launching the Editor while pressing the Shift key?  This will give you an option to prevent any third-party plug-ins from loading, and you should respond OK.  If the Editor opens, this will confirm that you have a third-party plug-in that is a problem.  If this doesn't work, then please tell us exactly what the error message says.  Screenshot would be best.

Just to add to DrLobster's post, there is currently a Black Friday sale on Elements 2023.  It is available until tomorrow (Nov. 29).  The price is already below the discounted price for prior owners and the "upgrade" version is therefore not available.  You will get the "full" version.  In any event, each version of Elements is independent and I don't think you need to uninstall the prior version before installing an upgrade license.  I would have thought that the older version can continue to be used on the same machine.  However, it has been many years since I purchased a discounted upgrade so I can't be sure about that.  @Dr Lobster can you confirm whether or not that is the case?

Firstly, thank you so much for replying and trying to help. I am so appreciative.

Ok launched PE2020. The first picture is the screen I get. Then I tried to open photo editor with the shift key held down. I get the loading message with the whiring circle for a full minute. Then the screen defaults to the first picture again. After 2-3 minutes screen 3 than comes up.

I didnt get any message to prevent thrid party log ins from loading.

I think Im going to go for the upgrade tomorrow but I am feeling anxious whether it will work!

Thank you so much once again

Just for reference - though it is a while since I upgraded rather than installed a full version. the process did not (when I did it) need the previous version from which you are upgrading to be installed. I would suggest it would be better if you uninstalled it first.

The proceedure is that with an upgrade version, you install the upgrade version on your machine, it asks you to enter the new activation code, but it also asks you to enter the old activation code, so it will permanantly de-activate the old version on Adobes server computers so you (or anyone else) can no longer activate that old one.

I know its a pain, and Adobe charge so much for their software yet offer minimal real customer service!

Hope its of some help. If you got through to a real support person, maybe you can do so again and confrim this proceedure is still the same.

I cant thank you enough for taking the trouble to reply with this advice.
I will try it with trepidation. I will take your advice and see if I can get confirmation that this is still the correct procedure. Thanks again!
