Photoshop elements versus Macbook

How do I get photoshop elements to let me save or use the photos on my macbook? They are clearly there and I can open the photos in the organizer (odd name since absolutely nothing is 'organized' in it) but I am not able to fully use elements. Are Elements and Macbook simply not compatable?
