Photoshop elements won't import files, or save and now crashes

Hi, I have been using elements for a while with no problems,  Recently I have been unable to save files as it says I don't have enough ram memory, I also now can't load files that have been saved from facebook, and it crashes when I try to do anything.  Having searched the forums - I tried the suggestion of editing the registry - something to do with 50 - 80?  Apologies - i'm really not very technically minded!  Does anyone have any suggestions please?  Previously I was able to contact adobe to fix an issue with premiere but this option doesn't seem to still be available.

Thank you

    Hi,

Please try clearing the application Preferences. To do so, when you just double click on the application to open it, keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift pressed. Click Yes to dialog that appears and asks for Resetting preferences.

    Thanks

    Hi

i don’t get a dialog box when I do that - nothing happens but the program opening when I try on the original location.

if I do it on the shortcut icon which is how I usually open the program I get the properties window.
