Question

Photoshop15 re-sizing my picture

Just got Photoshop Elements15...I have a canvas/background the size of the computer screen (made in Photoshop Elements10) which I drop pictures into then take the part of the pic I want & make a screensaver.

With Photoshop15 when I drop a pic into the canvas Photoshop15 is fitting the whole pic into my canvas.

I assume that is a pre set or something?

How do I get the actual picture size to drop into my canvas?

Thanks Neil

    Neil,

In recent versions of Elements, when you drag a picture from the photo bin to your canvas, you are shown a preview of the size, location and angle of where that picture will sit on your canvas, with the tools to resize, move and rotate as you wish.

    - what is added to your canvas is not a normal pixel layer, it's a smart layer. It's a link to the original picture you want to add, and you can resize, move and rotate that imported preview at any moment later without any loss in quality.

    - When you are satisfied with the new size, you simplify that smart layers, which then turns into a normal pixel layer. A simplified layer allows additional edits (styles...), but if you enlarge a pixel layer, you'll lose quality.

    - If you want the old way, rather use the old way. Have your background and file to import opened at the same time and use the copy and paste function.
