Photoshot Elements 2019 (i.e. ver 17) won't install on Windows 11

Dear Sir and Madams,
I'm aware that this topic has been discussed about, here, already. But for me it hasn't been resolved. So, please forgive me for starting a fresh thread.

I do have a licence for Photoshop Elements 2019 (i.e. ver 17), and it works perfectly well with my Windows 10 Home. However, I've acquired a new laptop, and thus, I'd need to transfer the software to a Windows 11 (64 bit) environment.

I chatted with Adobe Support on Friday, and got a download link and pakage. Sadly, while trying to ignite the installation process, I keep getting an error message which says my browser or OS needs to be updated (although those are up to date).

Also, the download through my Adobe Account Registered Products menu is a dead-end. The package (exe) arrives with no problem - but the installation fails at the very beginning.

The solution I referred to, earlier, was to install the Creative Cloud desktop app first, and then retry the PSE 2019 installation. Regrettably, that didn't work for me. So, please, could someone suggest another workaround to tackle the situation.

My sincere thanks to the Community.

Just to let you all know...  the solution that worked for me - after trying this and that with Adobe Support - was to first install PSE 2022, and then PSE 2019. However, before that e.g. C++ visual files were repaired and reinstalled, credentials and cerficates were fixed, Creative Cloud (Desktop) was reinstalled and several Adobe processes were terminated on the go. Could never have managed that on my own, so, thank you Adobe Support and its helpfull staff. Over and out, for now.

@teemuml Thank you for your solution! I finally installed PSE 2019. Instead of PSE 2022, I installed PSE 2024 then followed by PSE 2019.  When PSE 2019 working, I uninstalled PSE 2024.  This issue already troubled me for a week and was going to give up. Glad that it has been resolved!

Glad to hear that, @tjiang_9073 . It seems installing another version of PSE is the solution. However, it varies depending on your setup which one does the trick.

Try installing in Compatibility Mode:

  • Right-click on the .exe file
  • Select Properties
  • Select the Compatibility tab
  • Check the box to Run in compatibility mode and choose Windows 7
  • Click OK

Please let us know if this works.

@teemuml

I've moved your post from Photoshop to the Photoshop Elements forum.

No worries @teemuml . This is your first post and we don't expect users to know the best place to put their questions. Hopefully a PSE will be able to assist.
