All of a sudden my photos in the organizer are gone. There is a notification. No media available. Please clear applied filter and try again. I have no idea what is meant here. But I can't do anything anymore.

Which OS and version of the Organizer are you using? Try toggling the Ctrl+1 shortcut. You may have hit it by mistake. Alternatively, there is a clear button in the top right of the window.
