Question

Please help to determine what PSE enhancement techniques were used for this image?

Hello everyone,

My wife is planning to set up an online shop that sells scarves, and she asks me to take pictures and create nice-looking images of the scarves which we have for sale.

I am a rookie in product photography, though I am a quick learner.

My wife has found on the Internet a scarf from a competitor (see the picture below), which in reality looks much less attractive.

Could you please let me know your thoughts and suggestions on what PSE tools, in your professional opinion, were used or should be used for this image enhancement?

I really need your guidance!!!

Ok so you are asking me to reverse edit that picture. This is a good
challenge. First recommend that you shoot the picture in RAW format. and
use the Raw editor which comes with PSE. Try to avoid post processing to
correct colors, white balance, and brightness of the image. The more things
wrong with the image the harder it is to correct them after the fact. Get
things right when you shoot. Besure your working with a copy of the image
so if it changes and you don't like it you can go back to the original.
When you take the picture, get spot on focus of the subject and use a
tripod. And avoid the on camera flash. You can rent lighting equipment
locally and on line. If these pictures are going to be displayed on
line then make a copy of the final shot at about 72dpi. As for
enhancements I would plan on nudging the sharpening tool up to where you
see something that you like, Generally all pictures seem to benefit from
this adjustment. In the Raw editor start with White Balance make the white
things as white as they can be just before the whites turn a little
blue. Then go to the exposure slider and work that to a pleasant exposure.
Then to contrast. and then try the white slider and black slider. Sharpen
last and don't nudge it to high 4 or 5 increments.
I can't help you with composition and that will be a major and most
important enhancement that is up to the photographer and the client your
wife to create. I would consider a model under natural light with some fill
flash that keeps a natural light look. Work with your wife on the part.
Hope this helps.
