Plug-in Issues with Photoshop Elements 12

When I try to load photos into Photoshop Elements 12 editor, it takes a long time and a message says "scanning for plug-ins".  This just started the last couple times I tried to use it.  I am running Windows 10.  I am making a photobook and it will take me forever if I have to wait 5 minutes for each photo to go into PSE editor. Is there a way to fix this?  Please help!
