I am operating on a Windows 10 PC and have used Premiere Elements 15 successfully for two+ months, now Immediately after the catalog loads in Organizer, I get an error message telling me there is a problem and the program will be closed. This is followed by a message stating that the problem will be analyzed and I will be notified of any solution. The program closes without any further information. This has occurred many times and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice without any resolution.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please try out the steps mentioned below and let us know if it helps:

  1. Launch Elements Organizer while keeping the Shift key pressed to open the Catalog Manager.
  2. In the Catalog Manager dialog, click New to create a catalog. Provide a name for the catalog, and then click OK.
  3. Launch the Preferences dialog (Ctrl/Cmd + K).
    1. In the Preferences dialog:
    2. In the Media Analysis tab, deselect all checkboxes.
  • In the Files tab, deselect the checkboxes:
--Automatically Search for and Reconnect Missing Files
--Automatically Generate Thumbnails for Video Files

   4.  Start Elements Organizer.

   5. If Organizer launches without any issues, switch back to your older catalog.

Thanks,

This is sometimes caused by a component of free anti-virus or ad-aware software which may have been installed when bundled with another product update or browser add-on. Look for errors in the crash log by going to event viewer.

You may see something like:

Faulting module: LavasofTcpService64.dll

If so, remove the Lavasoft program and try launching Elements again. It may be listed as Web Companion.

  • -Go to the Windows Control Panel >> Programs (Uninstall a Program)
  • -Find and select Web Companion.
  • -Click Uninstall.
