Can anybody help with this problem? After high pass sharpening in Elements 15, the mouse wheel will not zoom the image unless I go into edit/preferences/general, then without changing anything exit from preferences, zoom then works normally. Throughout all this the the box "zoom with scroll wheel" remains ticked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program but the problem still remains.

How I do use the high pass sharpening.
- create the high pass layer over the current layer stack: Shift + Ctrl + Alt + E
- set the blend mode to softlight or overlay
- Zoom to 100% (double click on the magnifying glass icon)
- menu filter >> Other >> High pass, and move the slider to see the effect at 100¨%, validate by OK.
- I can immediately zoom with the scroll wheel
In your case, you don't have to "go into edit/preferences/general, then without changing anything exit from preferences", you simply click on another layer in the layer palette then click on the high pass layer. Two clicks and the zooming by scroll wheel is available.
