Problem With Important Pictures

All of a sudden I am having problems importing pictures from my camera or card reader to my desktop (Windows 10) using Photoshop Elements. Get message "Failed to obtain thumbnails for device" when I select camera or card reader on importing screen. Just downloaded PE 2018 since I was having problem with previous version but same problem.

How are you downloading your photos? From your camera or from a card reader?

Did you try to simply copy your files from the card or camera to the desktop using the explorer? That could exclude a hardware problem.

No, it's the Windows File explorer you are using to browse your files on your computer.
