problem with saving files

This is not really a new problem.  In the last couple of days, I have seen several with the same problem, but I don't seem to find them now.  I get an error message when I try to save a file "not enough RAM".  I have seen and copied the registry change that some say works, but I think there should be an update coming from Adobe since most people don't spend time changing the registry.  There must be a cause for this issue to suddenly show up in various versions of PSE as well as, I believe, Photoshop.  I suspect it has something to do with the Windows 1803 update.
