Problem with scanner

I just bought a Canon 9000F Mk2 scanner. When I hit the autoscan button it scans , saves the image and opens PE but the image doesn't come across. If I set the receiving app to Irfanview it works perfectly. I spoke to Canon and they say it's a PE issue.

If I acquire the image in PE from the scanner it works perfectly.

Any ideas
