Problem with Transitions

When I apply default (cross dissolve) transition to all clips on the timeline, PSE applies a transition to the beginning of the first clip. Since there is nothing to transition from, the transition is applied at the beginning of the first clip, which results in a second or two of black screen before the first clip becomes visible. My question is, why wouldn’t Adobe apply a transition only at the intersection of 2 clips? That would make more sense. I doubt that anybody really wants that black screen to start things off. I know there are a couple ways to work around the issue, but Adobe should fix that in the next generation.

Transition icons should appear on the timeline. Simply right-click on the first and choose clear or delete.

N.B. There is a separate community for Premiere Elements

Like I said, I know there are work arounds. But like you said, I posted to the wrong community forum. Thanks.
