Problems with OS Mojave

I was successfully using PS elements 18 on OS High Sierra.

I upgraded my 2017 mabook pro to Mojave and all seemed to work well.

That is until I wanted to backup my work to an external WD My Passport HDD.

I am unable to do so for a full or incremental backup, the error I'm getting is error 60,

(timeout error). The only fix I tried was to add PS elements and editor to my privacy tab,

but that didnt help.  Mojave isn't a full 64 bit operating system like Catalina, so I am stumped.

Not going to upgrade to PS elements 2020.

Any help would be appreciated.
