Problems with photoshop elements 8 and windows 10

I am having problems with PSE 8 after the Windows 10 upgrade.

Some tools/features seem not to be working.

The "Adjust Hue/Saturation" tool crashes PSE 8.

And the NON-aligned clone stamp is not working.

Can't say for sure that its because of the Windows 10 upgrade but I can't think of anything else.

Any recommendations on how to fix this?

    Try re-setting the prefs.

Hold down the three keys Ctrl+Alt+Shift whilst clicking to launch the Editor.

Keep the three keys depressed for one or two seconds and then release. You should see a message asking if you wish to delete the settings. Click Yes.

    Wow !

    That worked.

    Thanks very much!!

For my edification, why did this work?

What had I done so that the Adjust Hue/Saturation was not working properly?

It could simply be linked to the change of OS. The saved prefs can get a bit goofy. Deleting them means they get re-generated on next launch.
