Question

PS E 2024 -> Unlinked file -> CLOUD_ONLY_CONTENT cannot be deleted

Hello dear community,

sometimes I despair with Photoshop Elements 2024.

When initiating a backup I see an unlinked file.

The storage location of this file should be the Cloud Drive, which probably means the Creative Cloud.

The file's original location is specified as "CLOUD_ONLY_CONTENT" in the Missing Files Reconnect window. Reconnecting has no results.

I have never used Creative Cloud, nor do I have an account there.

Now when I try to delete the unlinked file I get the error message "User ID problem detected. Try logging in with the previous Adobe ID from Editor."

I think it's logical - I don't have an account. But how do I delete the link to a file that is supposedly on the cloud drive?

Many thanks for your help

@michaelb86838440, can you also check to see whether under Edit>Preferences>Auto sync any of the boxes are checked.  If they are, can you uncheck them, exit out of the Organizer, and then see if they remain unchecked when your relaunch the program?  Thanks.

Elements 2024 gives you some free space on the Creative Cloud.  In Elements it is known as the Elements Web.  This feature is still in a public beta form and I'm not sure whether all users have access to it.  In Elements 2023, I believe it was only available in certain regions or to a limited number of users.

Now with respect to your particular problem, I am having a similar issue.  Several hundred cloud images show up as missing files and I can't get rid of them.  I have reached out to Adobe and am awaiting a response.  In the meantime, try going through the steps that I have described in this post.

Cloud drive= just some storage space on computers you can access from anywhere on the web.  Nothing magical or mysterious about it.

Adobe creative cloud= Just some storage space on computers you can access from anywhere on the web specific to the Adobe family of applications.

When initiating a backup- do you mean in organizer?  If not you're on your own for that.
Missing Files Reconnect window- that is usually a  reference made when using organizer.

The storage location of this file should be the Cloud Drive, which probably means the Creative Cloud.

The file's original location is specified as "CLOUD_ONLY_CONTENT" in the Missing Files Reconnect window. Reconnecting has no results.  Cloud drive and creative cloud are two different things.

Somethings are autmatically saved to "the cloud" and users often do not know it-  so much depends upon the users computer configuration.

Have you ever used "Elements Web"?   If so, you have used adobe creative cloud.
Have you ever used "Adobe Express"? If so, yoou have used adobe creative cloud.

Type in "cre" in your start box and tell me if you see the adobe creative cloud app as depicted in the image below.
