PS Elements 12 Stalling

I've been using PSE 12 with Windows 10 since last July without problem.

About a week ago I opened the editor to get an opening screen with complete top menu bar but no text (only arrows) on the drop down menus beneath the top menu.

I uninstalled and re-installed PSE12 and all seemed fine but a few days later the situation re-occurred. I did an antivirus check (Kaspersky) with no problems found and also cleared the system using SuperAntiSpyware (free) and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (free) but re-installation of PSE12 showed the original problem.

Later that day the software initially appeared fine but subsequently the problem re-occurred.

I'm expecting that a system change I've made or an automatic update may have caused the problem, but I thought I would see if anyone recognises my symptoms before running System Restore.

    Hi Roger,

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    This is a known issue with Windows 10 Creator update and Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 update KB4016240 (Build 15063.250) that attempts to fix most of the common issues faced by users who upgraded to Windows 10 Creators Update.

    Please try installing this update and also clear preferences once before launching Editor. To do so,  keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys pressed while launching Editor.

    You will be asked to delete settings file. Say yes.

    Thanks Anwesha, since posting I've noticed several others reporting what

    looks to be the same problem.

    My system is Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) and it tells me that the update you

    mention is not applicable to my system. It's set to automatic update so

    my system should be current.

    Anyway, thanks for your comments.
