PS Elements 2022 - Can't Save as JPG, No Legacy option in Preferences

Hello! I have viewed all of the related 'Save As jpg' threads, but they all show the solution as going into Preferences and selecting the 'Revert to Legacy' option, which I don't have.

My one laptop is in the shop, so I am using another, and even if I save as a copy, jpg will NOT come up as an option, and in the File options there is no Save as Copy option available. Please help! Pics attached...

(BTW Photoshop Elements 2022 on Windows 11 OS-Files already in RBG 8 Bits/channel)

Please post a screenshot of the entire program ( like what I posted) with an affected image.

Changing Windows Default App extensions, Uninstalling, and Reinstalling worked. It is now defaulting to jpg. Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

Photoshop Elements doesn't have the Legacy Save As option in the preferences.

That's only in Photoshop.

Also you can save a JPG by going to File>Save for Web

Thank you. I saw that. It is just frustrating when the original file is a jpg, but I have to 'save for web' to save the same file edited as a jpg.

I believe in your screenshot of the file formats, MP4 is actually where JPG is supposed to be.

Try a reset of the Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022 Editor by going to

Edit>Preferences>General, clicking

Reset Preferences on next launch and restarting PSE 2022 Editor.

That didn't work 😞 It had me re-enter the serial #, but still when I opened a jpg and tried Save As, jpg is not listed. I have been using this for years (it is 2022 version) with no problems until now. Is there a way to specify what/how file type is default in windows maybe? I don't know, I just cannot figure out why it would always default to an MP4 video file type for a photo.
